The Tesla Camping Mode is a feature that has become very popular among owners. Countless Youtube videos and Instagram posts have documented its usefulness. When turned on, it can keep the vehicle’s interior a comfortable temperature for long periods of time. This special feature allows you to easily take your Tesla camping without a tent in any weather. Camping Mode combined with the folding rear seats and glass roof make sleeping under the stars a much more attractive proposition.
There are several companies that actually make bedding designed specifically for the various Tesla models. They come in various sizes with different levels of luxury, portability and accessories like pillows, blankets etc. The downsides of many of the most popular made to fit Tesla bedding products are price and versatility. The prices of the best selling custom fit Tesla bedding can range from $600 to $1,000+ depending on Tesla model! That is quite the price. They are also designed for the sole purpose of only being used in the Tesla itself with no real other practical use.
This is where our magical piece of foam comes in! We’re talking about part of the Nugget couch comes in! The Nugget couch is a must have product in the home for children big and small. It is essentially a mini unbreakable couch that can be deconstructed and used in any way imaginable. The foam couch set is so popular that it sells out within minutes of a new batch being released on the company’s website. It has virtually limitless configurations and aftermarket accessories sell on Etsy that allow even more ways to use it.
With a price tag of only $230, it happens to make the perfect bed for use when camping in a Tesla. That’s less than half the price of the premium custom Tesla beds! Thanks to the perfect size of the Nugget’s large rectangular pieces, it slides right into the trunk of even the smallest Tesla Model 3 with the rear seats laid flat, filling the space almost perfectly. In total the Nugget includes two large flat rectangular fabric covered foam pieces and two long triangular fabric covered pieces of foam.
You can use either one of the two folding rectangular sections of the Nugget as the base for the bed. The thinner piece has a bit of a softer density while the thicker foam piece is much more firm so you can customize the hardness of the bed to your taste. Even though the harder foam piece is a bit thicker, we found that it doesn’t make a significant impact on space while laying down or sleeping.
The large rectangular foam sections of Nugget transport easily also! They fold in half and fit perfectly even in the relatively small trunk of the Model 3. This allows you room to still store whatever extra gear you have on top of and below (using the under trunk storage) the Nugget. Another thoughtful feature when moving the Nugget couch in and out of the Tesla is the fabric carrying handle sewn into the fold between the foam sections. When the Nugget couch is opened and laid flat the handle disappears into the crack leaving a smooth surface no matter which side of the foam you choose to sleep on. When you are ready to transport the Nugget again, simply fold the foam in half and the carrying handle appears. Brilliant!
The greatest feature of the Nugget couch is that it isn’t just an inexpensive mattress for camping in your Tesla. It is probably the most versatile piece of furniture you could bring into your home. It is just foam and fabric with no hard springs or edges to get hurt on or bump into. The Nugget can be used as a soft play surface for babies, a fort for older kids, a pair of mattresses for sleepovers or a soft seating surface even for adults. The Nugget is 33″ deep and 66″ long in its standard configuration so the size of it is perfect for rooms in the home both large and small.
