The Baby Jogger City Select 2 stroller costs $599.99. This includes the single stroller (with 1 toddler seat.) To covert it to a double stroller, you must purchase the second toddler seat kit for $199.99. This set up totals $799.98. Baby Jogger currently offers a second seat bundle deal on their website that brings that saves $50 and brings the price down to $749.99. The downside is there are limited colors available. At the time of writing, the bundle is only available in 2 colors: Peacoat Blue and Radiant Slate.
The price of the Mockingbird “Single-to-Double” stroller is $450. The second seat kit is an additional $145 bringing the total for the double stroller configuration to $595.
So to buy these two strollers in the double seat configuration, which is what most people are probably interested in, will cost in total:
Mockingbird double: $595
Baby Jogger City Select 2: $799.98
WINNER: MOCKINGBIRD The Mockingbird Double stroller is significantly less expensive than the Baby Jogger both in base price and when configured with the second seat.
The toddler seat including the second seat of the Baby Jogger City Select 2 can accommodate a child up to 40″ tall.
The toddler seat including the second seat of the Mockingbird Single-to-Double can accommodate a child up to 42″ tall.
WINNER: MOCKINGBIRD The primary and secondary seats of the Mockingbird double stroller can accommodate a taller child.
The toddler seat and second seat of the Baby Jogger City Select 2 can both accommodate a child up to 45 pounds.
The toddler seat and second seat of the Mockingbird Single-to-Double can both accommodate a child up to 45 pounds.
WINNER: TIED Both double strollers have the same weight limits for both primary and secondary seats.
Both the Baby Jogger City Select 2 and Mockingbird Single-to-Double stroller can accommodate a third child with additional attachments.
The Baby Jogger City Select 2 has a stroller board you can purchase separately for $119.99 that allows a third child to ride along. This is called the Glider Board. It snaps into place on the rear axle and allows a child to stand between the stroller and parent.
Mockingbird sells their own Riding Board for $95 on their website.
The following two universal boards are also Mockingbird compatible: Lascal BuggyBoard Maxi & Guzzie+Gus Universal Hitch.
Winner: Tied Both the Baby Jogger City Select 2 and the Mockingbird Single-to-Double stroller can accommodate a third child on a ride-along board (purchased separately). But the Mockingbird one is cheaper!
The Baby Jogger City Select 2 comes in 4 main colors: Radiant Slate, Peacoat Blue, Flint Sage and Pike
For an additional $100 you can opt for one of four “Eco” colors. The Eco colors are made of a TENCEL fabric that Baby Jogger describes as: “Sustainability meets comfort with soft, breathable TENCEL™ fabric that helps with thermal regulation and is used on the canopy and padded seat”.
These additional “Eco” colors are: Lunar Black, Pure Mulberry, Harbor Grey and Frosted Ivory
Strangely, the Baby Jogger website does not offer all the possible colors for purchase. The website says certain colors are “Available at other retailers”.
The Mockingbird Single-to-Double Stroller comes in 5 colors: Black, Sky, Sea, Sage and Bloom. All colors are the same price.
WINNER: BABY JOGGER The City Select 2 technically comes in more colors than the Mockingbird if you include the “Eco” color options. In this case, “Eco” definitely does not stand for “Economical” as those color/fabric options set you back an additional $100!
Mockingbird offers 4 color options, but they have even more design options. You can customize your stroller in many ways that you can’t with the Baby Jogger City Select 2.
With Mockingbird, you get to select the stroller color, the leather color and the pattern on the inside of the stroller canopy. The current options are as follows:
Canopy color:
Interior of the Canopy:
Frame/Leather combination:
With the City Select 2, the stroller color, frame color and handle color come as a single package.
WINNER: MOCKINGBIRD The Mockingbird Single-to-Double stroller is customizable beyond basic fabric color options whereas the Baby Jogger City Select 2 is not.
The Baby Jogger City Select 2 weighs 26.7 pounds as a single seater.
The Mockingbird Single-to-Double weighs 26.5 pounds as a single seater.
WINNER: TIED Technically the Mockingbird is lighter but without a scale we doubt anyone will notice the difference in heft.
Below are the Baby Jogger City Select 2 vs. Mockingbird Single-to-Double dimensions:
The Baby Jogger City Select 2 dimensions (with seat attached) are as follows:
Unfolded: 35″ L x 24″ W x 41.1″ H / Folded: 11.8″ L x 24″ W x 37.8″ H
The Mockingbird Single-to-Double’s dimensions (with seat attached) are as follows:
Unfolded: 33″ L x 25.5″ W x 40″ H / Folded: 18″ L x 25.5″ W x 34″ H
WINNER: DEPENDS Both folded and unfolded dimensions of the strollers are a mix of more or less compact depending on what dimension you are looking at. Unfolded, the Mockingbird is not as tall as the Baby Jogger but is 1.5 inches wider. When folded the Mockingbird is larger in length and width than the City Select 2. It is more a matter of what dimensions matter the most to you or the shape of your vehicle’s cargo area.
The Baby Jogger City Select 2 can be folded with both the main seat and second seat attached.
The Mockingbird Single-to-Double stroller can be folded with both the main seat and secondary seat attached. Both seats must be forward-facing.
When folded with both seats attached they are quite bulky and may not fit into the cargo area of your car without removing the additional seat.
In terms of how to fold the two strollers, the Baby Jogger has a two-handed fold. There are two slide release triggers on the frame of the stroller that need to be pulled on in order to collapse and fold the stroller.
WINNER: MOCKINGBIRD The Mockingbird double stroller is easier to fold than the Baby Jogger City Select 2. The one handed folding ability can make a large difference when juggling multiple items and you don’t have two free hands.
The Baby Jogger City Select 2 stroller does not have the ability to stand when folded.
The Mockingbird Single-to-Double stroller can stand upright when folded.
WINNER: MOCKINGBIRD The ability to stand when folded is definitely a nice feature to have in a stroller. It can make storage outside of the car a bit easier because the stroller can be stored in a closet or against a wall upright consuming less floor space when not in use.
Suspension
The Baby Jogger City Select 2 has suspension on the front wheels only.
The Mockingbird double stroller has what they call “dual frame and seat suspension”.
The Baby Jogger City Select 2 has polyurethane foam solid tires.
The Mockingbird Single-to-Double stroller has solid polyurethane tires.
WINNER: MOCKINGBIRD Both strollers have tires that use the same solid no flat compound. The Mockingbird has additional suspension that puts it at an advantage for overall ride comfort.
Both the Baby Jogger City Select 2 and Mockingbird double stroller have a pretty standard size canopy (before any extensions). Both also have a covered mesh peek-a-boo window that also can help airflow.
The Mockingbird and Baby Jogger canopy are both UPF 50+ providing very important UV protection. Both canopies are also extendable for maximum coverage.
One thing to note is that Mockingbird also comes with a removable magnetic sunshade that can attach to the canopy to provide additional coverage.
WINNER: MOCKINGBIRD The Mockingbird and Baby Jogger have very similar canopies. Out of the box the Mockingbird offers an additional benefit by including a magnetic sunshade that increases the sun protection of the canopy.
The Baby Jogger City Select 2 has a 5 point harness that requires rethreading.
The Mockingbird Single-to-Double has a 5-point, no-rethread harness.
WINNER: MOCKINGBIRD The Mockingbird Single-to-Double has a 5-point, no-rethread harness which makes adjusting the harness as your child grows much less annoying and time consuming.
The weight capacity of the Baby Jogger City Select 2 basket is 15 pounds while the Mockingbird Single-to-Double is 25 pounds.
The Baby Jogger has a fairly large structural cross bar that can get in the way when loading some larger items into the basket of the City Select 2 compared to the Mockingbird.
WINNER: MOCKINGBIRD The Mockingbird Single-to-Double basket can hold 10 pounds more than the Baby Jogger basket. That is a very significant difference in cargo weight so you don’t have to think twice about putting things in the basket. We also like that it’s removable, which makes cleaning up much easier.
Both the Baby Jogger City Select 2 and Mockingbird double stroller have a flip-flop friendly foot brake.
WINNER: TIED The “flip-flop friendly” brake is our favorite type of stroller brake. Both the Mockingbird and Baby Jogger have this type of brake.
Both the Baby Jogger City Select 2 and Mockingbird Single-to-Double stroller have pivoting front wheels. However, only the Mockingbird double stroller has locking front wheels.
WINNER: MOCKINGBIRD Locking front wheels is a feature we like that many may overlook when stroller shopping. Locking front wheels is a feature often found in high-end strollers (like the UPPAbaby Vista). Locking front wheels allows you to “lock” them which prevents them from swiveling. This is beneficial when navigating on rougher terrain (like snow, brick, cobblestone, etc.).
Both the Baby Jogger City Select 2 and Mockingbird Single-to-Double have adjustable handlebars. Although they both adjust they are different in the ways they adjust.
The Baby Jogger has a telescoping handlebar and the Mockingbird has a rotating handlebar that can lock into 6 different positions.
WINNER: TIED The differences between handlebars that rotate versus telescope comes down to personal preference. Some people like rotating handlebars more than telescoping and vice versa. The most important thing here is that they can both accommodate differing height preferences.
All leather-like surfaces on the Baby Jogger City Select 2 are a vegan leatherette.
Although the Mockingbird double stroller refers to having a leather handlebar and bumper bar on their website, they clarified on their Instagram that this is not real leather, rather an “animal-free leatherette”.
WINNER: TIED Both strollers are equally animal free.
Baby Jogger offers a bassinet called the “Deluxe Pram” for an additional $249.99. It is to be used for newborns up to 25 pounds or 6 months old.
The Mockingbird stroller seat can also be laid flat and used for an infant ages 0-6 months with the purchase of the infant insert ($35). Mockingbird also sells a separate Bassinet for $140 which can be attached to the Mockingbird stroller. The Bassinet can also be used in conjunction with the Mockingbird Bassinet Stand making it safe for sleep. [We have a whole separate article where we talk about the new Mockingbird bassinet here if you’re interested]
Both the Baby Jogger City Select 2 and Mockingbird double stroller are compatible with a selection of car seats. Both can also fit two car seats simultaneously.
The Baby Jogger City Select 2 is compatible with the following car seats:

The Mockingbird Single-to-Double stroller is compatible with the following car seats with adapters:
In alphabetical order by brand
For more details, read What Car Seats are Compatible with the Mockingbird Stroller?
WINNER: MOCKINGBIRD Both are compatible with a selection of car seats. The Mockingbird Single-to-Double stroller is compatible with a much larger selection of car seats.
The Baby Jogger website states: “Except where noted, our frames are backed by a lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects. The parts of your stroller, excluding tires and tubes, are warranted to be free of manufacture defects for a period of 1 year under normal use and in compliance with the operating instructions.”
Mockingbird offers a lifetime warranty on their strollers. The mockingbird website states: “Our warranties cover the original purchaser for any issues that arise due to manufacturing defects. They do not cover issues arising from misuse or from normal wear and tear (such as stains, scratches, and other forms of cosmetic damage).”
Of course, with any warranty, make sure you read the fine print.
WINNER: TIED Both companies offer fairly competitive warranties that each have their individual pros and cons.
Both of these strollers offer great features and functionality with many configurations possible. Both the Mockingbird and Baby Jogger City Select 2 are highly recommended and have very large fan bases.
If one stroller has to win our favor in this comparison it would have to be the Mockingbird Single-to-Double.
We love the thoughtful features, like the no rethread harness and more extensive suspension system. The fact that you can also fully customize the appearance of the Mockingbird (in almost as many ways as a Porsche!) so it stands out in a sea of black strollers is great! By allowing the Mockingbird to be able to work with so many car seat brands, it allows the customer to have more choice when selecting baby products. This is important because people also have their own preferred car seat brands for various reasons and there is more of a chance that the Mockingbird stroller will be compatible.
Of course, one of the most important factors to stroller shoppers is price, and the Mockingbird is significantly less expensive than the City Select 2. Usually when there is such a large difference in price, you expect the less expensive product to have many less features or functionality. This is not the case at all with the Mockingbird Single-to-Double. Much like the newest Hyundai vehicles, the Mockingbird offers many features that are usually associated with more expensive products at a much lower price.
