There are so many reasons why music is important for toddlers, but we’ll boil it down to 5. Here are 5 Reason’s Why Music is Important for Toddlers:
So you want to buy music toys for your toddler? Good for you! You really can’t go wrong when it comes to music toys.
However, not all music toys are created equal. We definitely have our favorites! When it comes to music toys for our toddlers, we look for toys with one or more of the following qualities:
Using the criteria listed above, here are some of the best music toys for toddlers:
We love Melissa & Doug for non-toxic, affordable wooden toys. This is a great music set for toddlers. It comes with a variety of instruments that they are sure to love. We like that the instruments are realistic, child-sized, and wood (where possible).
2. Melissa & Doug Camp-Themed Musical Instrument Set
Here’s an alternative to the popular Melissa & Doug instrument set above. Also made by Melissa & Doug, this instrument set has a “camp theme”. It comes with the same number of instruments as the above set. Some of the instruments are similar but there are several different ones as well. This is a Target exclusive (click here to buy).
This is another great option for a set of musical instruments. Although this set is less realistic and more plastic than we typically like, it still meets our number one criteria – no batteries and the child makes the music! This set is a great value (from Target). We also like that all the pieces easily store inside the drum! It makes storage a breeze! We have this set and our toddler especially loves the drum! It comes with a strap that can be put around her neck and she loves marching around making music!
4. Piano
There are a variety of toddler-sized pianos on the market. Avoid the plastic, battery-operated pianos that play a tune when you hit a single key. Instead, opt for one like this – where kids can make their own music. We love the way this one looks! Plus, it can grow with the child with the included intro to sheet music.
5. Xylophone
A xylophone is another great musical instrument toy that you can give your child. We love these two from PlanToys!
6. Banjo/Guitar
A child-sized banjo or guitar is another great music toy for a toddler. It helps them build fine motor skills, rhythm as well as an interest in music.
