Babyzen Yoyo Stroller Versions

The Yoyo stroller comes in various configurations that you can build on the Babyzen website. The versions are designed to accommodate all of the various ages you might be using the stroller. Regardless of the specific version you order from the website, they all start off with the same Yoyo frame that is available in either black or white. Then, you choose the equipment at an additional cost based on your needs. The Babyzen Yoyo comes in either 0+ Newborn Pack, Bassinet, 6+, and with a Connect Frame.

Babyzen Yoyo 0+ Stroller

Babyzen Yoyo 0+ Newborn Pack

The Babyzen Yoyo 0+ is the first configuration a person with a new baby would need. The 0+ name hints that it is intended for babies as young as newborns. This version of the Babyzen Yoyo is able to accommodate attaching a car seat to the frame without having to remove the Newborn Pack.

Babyzen does make a car seat called the Yoyo car seat by BeSafe that is designed specifically for use with the Yoyo stroller but it is not available for purchase in the United States. You can however attach this list of compatible car seats to the Babyzen Yoyo frame using the Babyzen car seat adapter ($55):

• Cybex Aton Q
• Cybex Aton 2
• Nuna Pipa Lite
• Nuna Pipa
• Clek Liing
• Maxi Cosi Mico Max Plus

The above list applies only to compatible car seats in North and Central America.

The Babyzen Yoyo 0+ configuration is the most popular single configuration for travelling at the newborn stage vs the Yoyo Bassinet (below).

Babyzen Yoyo Stroller Bassinet

An alternative setup to the Babyzen Yoyo 0+ is the Bassinet configuration. Like the 0+, the Babyzen Yoyo Bassinet is designed for use starting with newborns and has a maximum weight of up to 19.8 lbs.

The Babyzen Yoyo Bassinet simply attaches to the Yoyo frame using bassinet clips and contains a soft double mattress on the inside for baby’s comfort. The included double mattress is as comfortable as possible for little ones at 1.8 inches thick. The entire Bassinet design resembles a cocoon when fully closed and the Yoyo Bassinet is meant to make babies feel like they are in a cozy cocoon as well. The fabric colors and material choices are the same as the other configurations of Yoyo. The Yoyo Bassinet has both soft and structurally supportive semihard surfaces all around it. The interior has small storage pockets that can be used to store small items like pacifiers.

The Bassinet does not fold as easily as the Babyzen Yoyo 0+ since the Bassinet must detach in order to fold. This is a definite downside for traveling since you are left carrying two separate pieces of equipment around when folded. The process of folding the Yoyo Bassinet is also much more tedious compared to the simplicity of the Babyzen Yoyo 0+ configuration. A detailed video tutorial of the process can be found HERE

Babyzen Yoyo 6+ Stroller

The Babyzen Yoyo 6+ stroller configuration is the next step configuration after the 0+ and Bassinet configurations. The Yoyo 6+ is made for children from 6 months of age and has a maximum weight of 48.5 lbs. This configuration is Babyzen’s best-selling and most commonly seen setup.

The Yoyo 6+ is designed to be as easy as possible to travel with and offers the best of both worlds when it comes to a compact design and ease of use.

Babyzen Yoyo Compact Design and Dimensions

One of the standout features of the Babyzen Yoyo stroller is undoubtedly its compact design. This section closely examines what makes it a potential winner in the portability department.

When folded, the Babyzen Yoyo stroller measures only 52 x 44 x 18 cm (20.5 x 17.3 x 7.1 in). Those dimensions only apply to the Yoyo with newborn pack and the Babyzen Yoyo 6+ since the Bassinet needs to be detached when folding the stroller frame. This difference is important because the Babyzen Yoyo has been designed specifically with airline travel in mind. The folded dimensions of the Yoyo stroller are carefully engineered to be within the carry-on baggage limitations of most airlines. Here are the dimensions of both the Babyzen Yoyo and the very popular Rimowa Cabin carry-on bag:

As you can see in the images above the Babyzen Yoyo was designed with carry-on luggage dimensions in mind. The Yoyo 6+’s folded dimensions will fit into all of the same overhead luggage compartments that the average carry-on luggage will fit into. This also means it will fit easily into the trunk of the most compact cars and even the small front trunk of most Tesla vehicles with room to spare. A stroller with such compact dimensions can make things like public transportation or rental car selection less of a chore when traveling. It even helps make daily life at home easier if you have a car where trunk space is precious or take public transportation frequently.

Its compactness is not just beneficial for on-the-go moments; even at home, storing the Babyzen Yoyo is a breeze. Whether it’s being tucked into a closet, placed in the trunk of a car, or even slid under a bed, its space-saving design ensures it doesn’t become a cumbersome piece of equipment.

To make transporting the Babyzen Yoyo stroller even easier it comes with a strap that allows you to carry it hands-free over your shoulder when on the go. This is a huge deal to parents who have had to lug around a heavy awkward stroller with other bags and a child places. Just ask your own parents.

Babyzen Yoyo Weight

The Babyzen Yoyo weighs only 13.7 lbs, making it one of the lightest strollers available. To put it into perspective, the Rimowa Cabin carry-on luggage we compared it to earlier weighs 9.5 lbs when empty. This means that the fully equipped Babyzen Yoyo stroller is only 4 lbs heavier than an EMPTY, completely aluminum piece of carry-on luggage! The Babyzen Yoyo will be one of the lightest items you carry around with you.

Babyzen Yoyo Folding Mechanism

An important aspect of a stroller designed for portability and travel is the ease with which it folds and unfolds. The Babyzen Yoyo stroller folds fairly easily with a two-step operation. It is not truly a one-handed fold but is easy nonetheless. The first step requires a two-handed unlocking and folding of the handlebar then you can fold the lower half of the Yoyo stroller with some practice with a single hand.

Like most compact strollers, unfolding the Babyzen Yoyo is a much easier task. With a good flick of the wrist, you can unfold the Yoyo stroller with one hand. This is demonstrated many times in Babyzen advertising materials and throughout the company’s website.

Babyzen Yoyo Stroller Colors

The Yoyo stroller comes in a nice wide selection of color options. Strangely the number of options depends on the configuration of the stroller.

The Babyzen Yoyo 0+ Newborn Pack and 6+ have 8 total colors to choose from.  The colors available are  Aqua, Ginger, Toffee, Taupe, Black, Olive, Stone, and Air France Blue. Air France Blue comes at a $20 premium.

When purchasing the Babyzen Yoyo in the Bassinet configuration you have a total of 9 colors. Some of these colors differ from those available in the other configurations. Air France Blue is not available for the Babyzen Yoyo Bassinet but Navy Blue replaces it and Grey is an additional color.

Babyzen Yoyo Stroller Pricing

The Babyzen Yoyo stroller starts at a price of $499 in its least expensive configuration the Yoyo 6+.  All of the newborn configurations are more expensive. A fully optioned Babyzen Yoyo Connect double stroller with popular accessories can set you back well over $1,200.

  • Babyzen Yoyo 0+ Newborn Pack: $609 for all colors  (Air France Blue is $20 more at $629)
  • Babyzen Yoyo Bassinet: $679 for all colors (Air France Blue not available)
  • Babyzen Yoyo 6+: $499 for all colors (Air France Blue is $20 more at $519)

Babyzen Yoyo Accessories

Like many full-sized luxury strollers, this compact stroller has a surprisingly wide selection of optional accessories to choose from. Below is a price list of the available options for the Babyzen Yoyo.

  • Leg Rest: $40
  • Cup Holder: $30
  • Footmuff: $125
  • Yoyo Bag: $70
  • Yoyo Backpack: $75
  • Yoyo Board: $125
  • Yoyo Parasol: $50
  • Yoyo Mittens: $50
  • Yoyo Skis: $60
  • Yoyo Car Seat Adapters: $55
  • Bassinet Rain Cover: $30
  • Bassinet Mosquito Net: $30
  • Yoyo 0+ Rain Cover: $30
  • Yoyo 0+ Mosquito Net: $30
  • Yoyo 6+ Rain Cover: $30
  • Yoyo 6+ Mosquito Net: $30

One great thing about Babyzen Yoyo accessories is they do not fall short in the style department. For many of the accessories covered in the fabric, you can individually select their color. You can not only match the color of your accessory to the color of your Babyzen Yoyo but you can also mix and match colors since the colors of the accessory are selected individually.

In some cases, you will not be able to match the color of an accessory exactly to the color of the Yoyo stroller. If you select an Air France Blue Yoyo 6 + stroller and then purchase the optional footmuffs, the footmuffs are not available in Air France Blue but are available in a similar Navy Blue. It is a little strange to us that not all of the colors are available across the board with either accessories or configurations.

We find it strange that there isn’t a ton of consistency when it comes to fabric color choices. For example, the fabric carrying bag for the Yoyo footmuff is available in 9 colors while the Yoyo Backpack is only sold in black. It would be nice to have the same stylish pop of color available across the board.

Babyzen Yoyo Double Stroller

Babyzen Yoyo Review Connect
Babyzen Yoyo Connect with Bassinet

In order to get the Babyzen Yoyo as a double stroller you will need to purchase the second stroller section called the Yoyo Connect ($379). The Babyzen Yoyo Connect is a second frame option that connects to the standard Yoyo frame.

Just like the normal Yoyo frame, it can be purchased in either white or black. You can either match it to your existing Yoyo stroller frame color or go with a contrasting look and have it in the opposite color. You will also need to select a color pack ($70) for the Yoyo Connect in addition to the frame purchase to use the Yoyo Connect in 6+ configuration. Keep in mind, the $70 price applies to all colors except Air France Blue which is $20 more at $90.

When the Babyzen Yoyo Connect is attached to the Yoyo, it attaches from behind. This means that the Yoyo Connect becomes the stroller section that you physically push and the normal Yoyo helps steer since it has the front wheels that turn.

Huggle Baby Store Youtube Channel Curb Demonstration

Just like all double strollers that are inline, it can become tricky to do common maneuvers like going up curbs in a city. For an example of how this stroller setup handles curbs and city streets check out this short demonstrational video HERE

One of the most clever and well thought out aspects of the Babyzen Yoyo double stroller setup is that you can disconnect the Connect and hang it on the standard Babyzen. This can be useful for times when one child gets dropped off somewhere or they want to walk instead of ride and you no longer need the double configuration. This vastly improves the utility of the Babyzen since you don’t really have to worry about pushing around a long unoccupied double stroller limosine when the child isn’t using it.

Our Take on the Babyzen Yoyo Stroller

We do like the Babyzen Yoyo stroller range. Compact strollers have come a long way in recent years and have become far more stylish and usable than they once were. The Babyzen Yoyo stroller is a good example of this.

We are HUGE fans of the configurability of the Babyzen. There are a great selection of bold colors to choose from and you can even get wacky by mixing and matching colors of accessories. We do wish that all the colors were available for all accessories including the backpack that only comes in black.

The compactness of the Babyzen Yoyo when folded does not only matter to frequent travellers. It is a huge plus for everyday activities since it takes so little trunk or cargo space. Even if you have a large 3 row SUV the trunk area is valuable real estate with the third row up. The Yoyo takes up less space than any full size stroller option.

Overall, we really do think the Babyzen Yoyo is a great solution to the problems of compact strollers of the past. The Yoyo offers a lot of the features and utility of full size single and double stroller setups but also makes travel easier than any full size stroller could ever do. This utility and convenience does come at a relatively high price but it can be worth the investment if you really need an extremely light, portable, durable, travel-friendly compact stroller. The Babyzen Yoyo stroller is worth the hype in our opinion. Just look at the vast majority of glowing reviews from customers on the Babyzen website and retailers like Pish Posh Baby. Parents love the product.

Where to Buy the Babyzen Yoyo Stroller

It may seem like there is an endless supply of places to purchase the Babyzen Yoyo. Of course you can always purchase the Yoyo from the Babyzen website but when we can we like supporting small businesses.

A great place to find Babyzen products is the popular small retailer Pish Posh Baby. We have purchased many car seats, strollers, and other products for ourselves and gifts for other people from them and loved our experience. When you purchase products like the Babyzen Yoyo through them you earn points that you can use as money towards future products from them.

Smaller retailers like Pish Posh Baby can offer incentives and benefits that the Babyzen website do not offer.  This is an example of a great perk but as always it is best to shop around.
