The iconic UPPAbaby Cruz is getting a makeover in 2020 and with it comes a name change. Now called the UPPAbaby Cruz V2, the new Cruz boasts a smoother ride, more spacious seat, a smaller fold, a re-designed sun shade, a no re-thread harness as well as some other upgrades.
The 2020 UPPAbaby Cruz V2 was unveiled in Germany at “Kind + Jugend,” the international leading fair for premium baby and toddler products.

The UPPAbaby Cruz V2 is expected to be released in February 2020. If you want to be one of the first to get your hands on a Cruz V2, then you’ll want to pre-order the stroller.
What are the differences between the 2019 Cruz and the 2020 Cruz V2 wheels and suspension?
The 2020 Cruz V2 has slightly larger wheels than the previous model. The Cruz V2 has 10″ rear wheels while the 2019 and prior models had 8.5″ rear wheels. The suspension is also improved. The 2019 Cruz only had front-wheel suspension, while the new 2020 Cruz V2 has 4-wheel suspension. The improvements made to the wheels and suspensions means a smoother ride.
There’s also an added visual features in the front wheels so you can if the wheels are locked vs. unlocked.
What are the differences between the Cruz and the Cruz V2 toddler seat?
The seat of the Cruz V2 will accomodate a taller child than the Cruz, as it has a higher seat back and deeper footrest.
What are the differences between the Cruz and the Cruz V2 fold?
The UPPAbaby Cruz V2 has a more compact fold than the Cruz – it is almost 4 inches shorter in height when folded.
What are the differences between the Cruz and the Cruz V2 sun canopy?
The canopy of the Cruz has has been completely re-designed for the 2020 Cruz V2. The 2020 Cruz V2 features a zip-out fabric canopy, providing greater coverage for your child. There are two mesh panels, one towards the front and one towards the back. This acts as a peek-a-boo window, as well as provides for airflow.
The canopy of the Cruz has an iconic silver pull-out SPF 50+ sunshade. The Cruz V2’s sunshade is still SPF 50+.
What are the differences between the Cruz and the Cruz V2 harness?
The 2019 and prior UPPAbaby Cruz’s have a rethread harness, meaning to adjust the height of the straps, you have to thread the straps through the seat, and rethread them.
The Cruz V2 has a “no-rethread” harness, making adjusting the height of the straps much easier.
What are the differences between the Cruz and Cruz V2 basket?
The size of the basket in the Cruz V2 is much larger than from previous years. The overall appearance of the basket has also been improved.
The weight capacity of the 2019 Cruz basket is 25 pounds, while the 2020 Cruz V2 basket has a capacity of 30 pounds!

Unfortunately, the 2020 Cruz V2 weights 4 pounds more than the 2019 Cruz. This is the trade-off for the bigger wheels and smoother ride.

UPPAbaby has answered this question on their instagram. You will not be able to purchase the Cruz V2 seat separately.

We are loving the updates UPPAbaby made to the 2020 Cruz V2!
All the updates to the Cruz make it more similar to the UPPAbaby Vista. In the past, many have opted for the Vista over the Cruz, even if they didn’t need the double stroller feature, for the fact that the Vista offered a smoother ride and other added perks. But now, there is much less incentive to choose the Vista V2 over the Cruz V2 unless you actually need the double stroller conversion feature.
