The traditional Wobbel Board comes in three sizes – Original, Starter and XL. There’s also a Wobbel 360, which is a circular board. Once you pick your size, you can decide whether you want felt or no felt.
When you buy a Wobbel Board, you must decide if you want it with or without felt. The felt is found on the bottom portion of the Wobbel Board. There are pro’s and con’s to both the Wobbel Board with and without the felt. Your specific circumstance may help you determine what kind of Wobbel Board to get – felt or no felt.
Without Felt :
The Wobbel Board without felt is not recommended for use on hardwood floors. It could slip easily, would be very noisy and could cause damage to your floors or the Wobbel Board. The Wobbel Board without felt is recommended for use on a rug or carpet. The wooden Wobbel Board with no felt is also easier to clean and keep clean. Many people prefer the aesthetic of the Wobbel Board with no felt. Another benefit that many people argue is that the Wobbel Board without felt makes a better slide. Lastly, the Wobbel Board without felt is cheaper than the Wobbel Board with felt.
With Felt:
The Wobbel Board with felt can be used on both harwood and carpet. The felt helps reduce noise and prevent scratches. There are many colors to choose from which allow you to personalize and customize your Wobbel Board. The Wobbel Board with felt can still be used as a slide, it will just be less slick due to the added friction. Getting a Wobbel Board with felt is going to cost more than the same Wobbel Board without felt.
If you do decide on felt for you Wobbel Board, you have two choices for the type of felt – Wool or Recycled Pressed felt. All Wobbel Boards with felt are made with wool felt unless identified otherwise. Currently, you can only get the Original Wobbel Board size with the recycled felt and this combination is referred to as the Wobbel Board Pro. Both the original Wobble Board with Felt and Wobbel Board Pro are the same price.
1. Wool Felt
Unless annotated as “PRO”, all felted Wobbel Boards are made with wool felt. The wool felt is soft to the touch. It comes in a variety of color options – more than the recycled felt (Wobbel Board Pro). The wool felt can be cleaned with a light application of natural soap. It is advised not to rub or brush the felt too much, as it might cause damage.
2. Recycled Felt
Currently, only the original size Wobbel Board has the option to come with recycled pressed felt. It’s identified as the Wobbel Board Pro and is considered the twin sister of the Original Wobbel Board. The recycled pressed felt is made primarily of recycled PET plastic bottles. The recycled pressed felt makes it more suitable for intensive and professional use – think daycares, schools and playgrounds. The recycled pressed felt is not as soft as the wool felt, but is more durable and easier to clean. In terms of color selection, there is a much more limited selection compared to the Original Wobbel with wool felt.
