If you’re not familiar with the concept of a Pikler triangle, it’s a climbing structure that children learn to navigate on at their own pace. The Pikler triangle allows children to explore their body, learn their own boundaries and respond to their climbing needs. It also helps develop gross motor skills, physical strength and agility, encouraging free movement and free play. The Pikler triangle was created by Dr. Emmi Pikler, a Hungarian pediatrician. Today, there are many Pikler triangle-inspired products on the market.
Wiwiurka is a very popular brand of Pikler triangles. Wiwiurka’s product is called the “Climbing Foldable Triangle“, but for the purposes of this article we’ll refer to it as a Pikler triangle, as that’s how most people reference this product. To sum it up, we absolutely LOVE the Wiwiurka Pikler triangle. We have the large size in the color “Sunset”. We also have the reversible ramp add-on accessory. One side is a slide and one side has ladder rungs.

We are absolutely blown away by the quality of the Wiwiurka brand of Pikler triangles. It’s extremely sturdy, well-thought out and well-made. This is definitely an heirloom quality toy that can be passed on from generation to generation!

Having the Wiwiurka Pikler triangle is like having an indoor playground. It’s great for getting energy out. It’s perfect for those rainy days, snowy days, or too-hot-to-go-outside days.

We love open-ended toys and the Wiwiurka Pikler triangle fits this description! Open-ended toys can be played with in multiple ways. Open-ended toys promote creativity and imagination. Because there are so many different ways to play with the Pikler triangle, it won’t be a toy that gets forgotten about or children get bored of. This is a big one for us. We would rather pay more for a product knowing it comes from a socially responsible company and workers are paid a fair wage. Wiwiurka products are hand-made in a small town in Mexico and employees are paid a fair wage. They also employ at least 50% women and that number is growing.

With some exceptions (like Lego and Magnatiles), we like to buy wooden toys over plastic. We prefer wooden toys for a variety of reasons. They are often more durable and safer. Plastic toys, although often cheaper, are worse for the environment at every phase of their lifecycle, from production to disposal. We like that the Wiwiurka Pikler triangle is made of wood. There are multiple options to choose from: Pinewood, Plywood and Tzalam.
9. Folds Away for Easy Storage
We honestly keep it out most of the time, but we like that we have the option to fold down the Wiwiurka Pikler triangle for easy storage. It folds flat so we can easily slide it under the bed. The fact that it folds also makes it easy to transport. We often carry it from room to room (including up and down stairs).
10. Safe and Non-Toxic
When buying a Pikler triange (or any toy for that matter), safety is of the utmost importance to us. This is especially critical due to the nature of the Pikler triangle, where it’s supporting the weight of a child. We weren’t prepared for how the Wiwiurka Pikler triangle would be such a conversation started from visitors and friends. Although many people are familiar with Pikler triangles, many people are not. We get lots of questions and comments. We’ve loved sharing our Pikler triangle with friends and watching other children (and their parents) experience the Wiwiurka Pikler triangle for the first time!
We’ve shared that one of the many reasons we love the Wiwiurka Pikler triangle is because it’s open-ended. Next, we’ll share specific examples (with pictures) so you can see just how versatile this product is!
1. Climbing
The main purpose of the Pikler triangle is climbing and everything that goes with it. Climbing is even in the name – the Wiwiurka “Climbing Foldable Triangle”. We have the “large” Wiwiurka Climbing Triangle (aka Pikler triangle). Our 3 year old loves climbing up one side and down the other. She’s slowly gaining more and more confidence as she masters this feat. She can get a little shaky and nervous when she’s at the top, but is getting better at maneuvering her body over the top.
We also have the reversible ramp. One side has a ladder, which allows for even more ways to climb.
2. Sliding
The other side of the Wiwiurka reversible ramp is a slide. It sets securely on the rungs of the Pikler triangle. You can raise or lower the slide to change the steepness of the slide. Our 3 year old absolutely loves sliding!
3. Playing Under the Pikler Triangle
Although the main purpose of the Pikler triangle is for climbing, our daughter probably spends half the time playing under it. She often pretends it’s her house and takes toys, books and pillows underneath.

Add a blanket over the Pikler triangle and it creates a whole new experience! Our daughter loves playing under the triangle when it’s dark and covered with a blanket. Sometimes it’s her house, sometimes it’s her tent. Give her a flashlight, and she can play a longggg time in there!
4. Using the Slide as a Work Surface
The slide works great as a flat work surface in our daughter’s carpeted room. It can be placed flat on the floor or lifted up and placed on the rungs of the Pikler triangle.
Using the slide as a flat work surface is perfect for building with Legos or other blocks, playing with toys, doing arts and crafts, and doing puzzles, just to name a few!

5. Using the Slide as a Ramp for Toys
In addition to going down the slide herself, our daughter also loves putting her toys down the slide. It’s perfect for racing cars and balls. She also loves sliding her dolls and stuffed animals down the ramp.
As parents, we like that she is having fun while learning about things like gravity and physics!

6. The Possibilities are Truly Endless
The above examples are how our Pikler triangle is played with the most, but our daughter is always finding new ways to incorporate it into her play.
Our daughter is 3, but we’re firm believers that children both older and younger can benefit from a Pikler triangle. You can place babies underneath and hang toys from the rungs for them to look at. Pikler triangles are very beneficial for children as they are learning to stand, walk and climb. Even at age 3, we’re still improving our climbing skills and benefiting. greatly from the Wiwiurka Pikler triangle. Older children will surely find many creative uses for the Pikler triangle, especially as they engage in pretend play.
Your child will likely find many unique uses for the Pikler triangle that you would have never thought of. That’s been the case in our house!

If you’ve ever built Ikea furniture, then you can build the Wiwiurka Pikler triangle. It’s recommended you use a drill. Give yourself about an hour. Some people may be faster and some may be slower. If we had to build a second one, it would probably only take us 20 minutes. We definitely recommend watching the video instructions that Wiwiurka provides – they’re super helpful!

What size Pikler triangle should I get? It depends on your family’s circumstance. We would recommend the “large”, just because we believe it adds to the longevity and useful life of the product. A “large” can hold more weight, but also provides more room for children to play under. A younger child can play on the “large”, but an older child may not be able to play on the “small”. We also recommend getting the “Reversible Ramp” if your budget allows. If budget is a concern, then the “small” offers a great value. Wiwiurka offers so many different color options for their Pikler triangles, ranging from neutral to colorful. You are sure to find a color combination you like!

Another thing that makes Wiwiurka stand out from the crowd is the range of accessories and compatible climbers they offer.
We already mentioned and have shown the Reversible Ramp (one side has a ramp/slide and one side has ladder rungs). Wiwiurka also has a Rock Climbing Ramp – in multiple color options too!
Wiwiurka also offers a “Climbing Arch for Babies“. However, don’t be fooled by the name. The maximum weight is 66 pounds and is compatible with the Reversible Ramp, as shown below.
Another popular product that Wiwiurka offers is the Rocker Board. Similar to their Pikler triangle, it comes in various sizes and colors. This product is great alone or in conjunction with their Pikler triangle and Reversible Ramp.
In addition to being able to choose from color, size and accessories, you can also choose between either pinewood or plywood (for the medium and large sizes). The plywood is Sveza FSC Plywood, imported from Europe, and we can attest to the high quality! Their plywood also holds the E1 Certificate which means the plywood fulfills the requirements of the emission class E1 regarding its formaldehyde release levels. The MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) shows 0% of volatiles by volume!
They also offer a specialty dark wood option in the medium and large sizes, made of TZALAM, a tropical Mexican wood. Although this comes at a higher price-point, it’s truly exquisite and unique, as you can see below!

To us, yes, the Wiwiurka Pikler triangle is very much worth the money! Consider the longevity of the product – it can be played with from infancy through elementary school age. It’s an open-ended toy so children can play with it in multiple ways. Since it’s made of wood, it will also be durable to use for multiple children. Also consider that you’re supporting a company that pays a fair wage.
Wiwiurka rarely runs sales, but if you’re willing to wait, your best chance of getting their products on sale is to follow them on Instagram and sign up for e-mails.
You also need to be aware of their rewards program, called the Wiwi Club. You can earn points, which translates to dollars off a purchase. For instance, you can earn points by subscribing to their newsletter, writing product reviews, referring friends and following them on social media (Facebook and Instagram). Definitely join the Wiwi Club if you’re looking to save some money.
Another thing to keep in mind if you’re on the fence about spending the money is that Wiwiurka Pikler triangles hold a lot of their value. There is definitely a second-hand marketplace for used Pikler triangles, so you’re likely to recoup a significant amount of money if you ever go to sell it.
