IKEA is one of our favorite stores, especially for affordable Montessori-friendly products. Earlier in 2020, IKEA released a bunch of great new Montessori-friendly products. We picked out our favorite ones and rounded them all up in our previous article – New Montessori-Friendly Items at IKEA (2020) (CLICK HERE TO READ).
IKEA released even more products in FALL of 2020. There are so many amazing Montessori-friendly finds, we just had to tell you about them!

Here’s our top Montessori-friendly products Ikea released for Fall 2020!
HÖSTPROMENAD Decoration Pumpkins: If you love these pumpkins as much as we do, run don’t walk to your nearest Ikea! They probably won’t be around for long! We predict they will go fast! These realistic pumpkin decorations come in a set of 5. Perfect for little hands to handle or learn from all year round! These would look great on a seasonal Montessori shelf!
LERBODA Gold Frame: This is one our our favorite new Montessori-friendly finds from Ikea. It reminds us of the popular Guidecraft Clear Treasure Blocks, though probably more suitable for older kids. This see-through frame is perfect for displaying leaves and other natural objects, as shown. And it costs less than $5!!! We love the stylish gold frame! P.S. It also comes in some other sizes, as well as other frame colors (though these aren’t new).
PLUFSIG Folding Gym Mat: This gym mat is an Ikea classic, but this color scheme is new! We love the more muted colors of this mat and think it’s perfect for Montessori environments. Previous versions of this mat have been bold and bright. The new gym mat in the color “blue”, features more neutral tones in blue, green and brown. The gym mat encourages gross motor play.
IKEA 365+ Scoop Set: This set comes with two stainless steel scoops in two different sizes – both perfect for little hands! Scoops are a must-have in the Montessori setting for transferring work. Transferring work is a great activity for toddlers and preschoolers. It helps build physical strength, hand-eye coordination and concentration, just to name a few. This set of scoops is a great find, especially at less than $5 for two!
MÅLA Portable Drawing Case: This portable drawing case is perfect for writing or drawing on the go. It unzips to reveal storage for supplies like paper and crayons/colored pencils/markers. We love the idea of taking this outside so kids can create outdoors – like drawing what they see in naure!
MÅLA Watercolor Pencils: These are just called colored pencils on the website, but look a little closer and you’ll notice they are watercolor pencils! If you haven’t heard of watercolor pencils, they are essentially colored pencils that you can then add water to with a paintbrush, and the color then takes on a watercolor effect. The verdict is still out on how well these actually work, but we do know we’re definitely picking these up on our next Ikea trip! These are a steal at $3.99 for a 10 pack. For reference, here’s a similar set that sells at Target.
PJÄTTERYD Solar system Picture: Okay, this one might be a stretch, but it is just too good not to include! It’s a bit cartoon-y to be considered Montessori (the sun is smiling!). Thought not 100% Montessori, this is still a great piece of art that doubles as informational. Perfect for a playroom or homeschool area.
Jättelik Dinosaur Soft Toys: Ikea is known for their vast array of cute and affordable soft animals or soft toys. The newest additions are no exception! Ikea just released a whole collection of dinosaur plush toys in multiple sizes. These are perfect to incorporate in a Montessori dinosaur unit. They are also perfect companions for any dinosaur lover. They come in pretty muted colors (one could argue realistic colors, but what’s a realistic dinosaur look like anyway?).
