Of course you don’t need certain toys to celebrate the season (or any toys at all for that matter). This guide is simply meant to act as inspiration.
All the toys on our list are sustainably-made, non-toxic, and provide for open-ended play all year round.
The natural rainbow by Grimm’s will make a lovely addition to any playroom, especially during fall. It can be played with in countless ways.
There are certain animals that are associated with autumn - squirrels, foxes and deer, just to name a few. Ostheimer is a popular European brand of wooden toy animals. Ostheimer has a great selection of “woodland” animals that evoke feelings of the season of fall.
The Ostheimer Forest set is a great way to start your Ostheimer collection or get your hands on popular, hard to find (often sold out) animals. The Ostheimer Forest set comes with the following woodland animals: small rabbit (15005), running fox (15005), eating deer (14303), fawn (15305), white owl (1613), small hedgehog (1625), badger (16262), snail (1633), sitting squirrel (16600), robin (16807) and small spruce tree (30703). It also comes with a cardboard diorama backdrop and gift box.

Also pictured is an Ostheimer “First Figure” Rocking Rabbit. Ostheimer recently came out with a natural line of figures meant for younger children (toddlers over the age of one; other Ostheimer figures are meant for ages 3+). The base of the figure is slightly contoured which allows it to rock.
Not only is this stuffed fox super cute, it’s made of certified organically cultivated cotton and filled with organic lambswool.
These Grapat mandala pieces are so versatile and bring some pops of fall colors in the playroom.

The Grimm’s wooden pebbles are another simple toy that have endless possibilities. This set is perfect for autumn!
The apple tree wooden puzzle is a great first puzzle for older babies and will be enjoyed in different ways as they grow. Tots will be thrilled with the puzzle of slotting the trunk and green canopy together and putting the 12 apples into the tree, developing their pincer grip and motor skills. Older toddlers and young children can incorporate the tree into toy farms, scenery for a train set or play world, or as part of a seasonal display.

Peg dolls are a must-have in our book. They are so versatile and allow for imaginative play. These particular ones are themed perfectly for autumn.
Musical instruments are great toys to expose to children anytime of year, but the color scheme of this drum, rainmaker and percussion clapper are just perfect for fall!
