Naturepedic is one of our top picks for non-toxic crib mattresses. We have been big fans for years (see our original review of our own Naturepedic crib mattress).
They make crib mattresses, kid mattresses as well as full sized mattresses that are certified organic cotton and non-toxic. The company is known for being as non-toxic as possible. Their products are UL/GREENGUARD certified, Made Safe certified and certified organic through the Organic Exchange OCS100 Certification Program. They even have a selection of mattresses that are vegan and PETA approved.
No non-toxic detail of the mattresses they sell is overlooked. Even the latex used is organic latex that meets the organic and non-toxic standards of the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS).
Currently, the Classic Organic Cotton Crib Mattress is priced starting at $269 making it the least expensive organic crib mattress on the market. This low pricing makes it an amazing value and makes certified organic crib mattresses an option for more people. Keep in mind that $269 is the starting price for the Lightweight mattress. The price rises to $299 for the Lightweight 2 Stage and $399 for the Innerspring 2 Stage mattress. They are all great values in our opinion.
The Avocado brand sells a competitive certified organic crib mattress. The Avocado website currently claims that they sell the “most affordable certified organic crib mattress made in America” at a price starting at $349. This is of course more expensive than the Naturepedic certified organic cotton crib mattresses that are also made in America.
Although we do also like the Avocado brand of crib mattresses, the Naturepedic crib mattresses start at a significantly lower price point. That is an important fact because the lower price point makes healthy non-toxic mattresses available to more children.
